Thanks to recent advances in space exploration and astronomical observation techniques, we have been increasingly able to target ever smaller bodies in our research; from the kilometer scale down to submicron, and even to nano-scales. Covering this wide size distribution allows for better understanding of the formation and evolution of not only our own Solar System — but also other planetary systems. In particular, in the year of IAU GA 2021, we launch into a new era of research, welcoming Hayabusa2’s return to Earth with a treasure box from the primordial asteroid Ryugu.
In this context, we propose to organize a Focus Meeting during the GA in Busan, where planetary astronomers who study targets across a wide range of size scales can gather together to exchange information, ideas, and recent findings. A goal of this gathering would be to agree on a set of future science goals to be achieved in the coming decades.
